Obituary for V Lynne Cochran, DMD

V Lynne Cochran, DMD, 69, of Oakdale, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 16, 2021, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.

Dr. Cochran was born on August 14, 1952, in Canonsburg, PA, the eldest daughter of the late Garvin John “Gig” and Violet Jayne “Veejay” (Giles) Cochran of Midway.

She graduated from Fort Cherry High School in 1970, then from Bryn Mawr College and the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine, where she earned her DMD degree. Passionate about education, she later earned an MBA from Waynesburg University.

Dr. Cochran established her dental practice in McDonald to serve the communities she had long known and loved, opening her first office on S. McDonald St., later moving to the first floor of the old Municipal Building at 101 N. McDonald Street. Her practice flourished for 41 successful years.

Active in various professional organizations, Dr. Cochran was a member and past president of the Dental Society of Western Pennsylvania and editor of its journal. She supported many community organizations and activities and loved helping people through her profession and in her personal life.

A lifelong animal lover, Dr. Cochran enjoyed the company of cats and cocker spaniels, as well as family and friends, and she loved to play Scrabble and euchre, bake for the holidays, sing, play guitar, fish and travel.

Lynne Cochran is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Dr. Donald E. Fetterolf, MD, siblings Ann Cochran of Bragg Creek, Alberta, Canada, Matthew Giles (Sandy Tozzi) Cochran of Oakdale and Beth Alana (Kim Bozik) Cochran of Gilbert, Arizona, a niece, Lynn Cochran Allan, five nephews, John Giles Cochran, Joseph George Cochran, Peter Michael Cochran, Levio Robert Corgnati and Max Garvin Corgnati, and an aunt and many cousins who will miss her dearly.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, August 21, 2021, from 3-6 p.m., at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Ave., McDonald (724-926-2800). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bryn Mawr College, 101 N Merion Ave, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010.

At the request of Dr. Cochran, all family and friends are asked to follow CDC guidelines and wear masks in the funeral home to keep everyone safe from COVID-19.
