Obituary for Thomas Joseph "Tom" Murray III

Thomas “Tom” Joseph Murray, III, 74 of McDonald, North Fayette Twp., was lifted to Heaven on Good Friday, April 15, 2022.

Tom was born on December 10, 1947 in Braddock, a son of the late Thomas J. Murray, II and Myrna (Eggars) Biehl.

Mr. Murray was a retired elementary school teacher for Burgettstown School District. Being a teacher was the perfect role for Tom. He loved children deeply and was affectionately known as “Papa Murray” by his children’s friends. Tom and Mary started their family by going to St. Petersburg, Russia in 1992. Tom was proud to be a father to his loving children, Sergei and Maggie. Tom was a creative soul and very artistic. He loved to weave and shared his creations with friends and family. His talents also extended into the kitchen, where Tom loved to bake. He was especially known for his decadent Christmas cookies and delicious cheese cake. Tom was also an avid reader and loved to dance.
Tom was an artist at heart with a generous spirit. May the road rise to meet you and may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Surviving is his loving wife, Mary (McHugh) Murray of 40 years, children, Thomas Joseph Sergei Murray, IV and Margaret “Maggie” Maria Murray, and sister, Mary Emerson.

Along with his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte (Charles) Yesnach.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 1 – 4 p.m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., and Crematory, 5000 Noblestown Rd., Oakdale (724-693-2800).
At the request of the family, masks are to be worn inside of the funeral home and please social distance as much as possible.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the West Allegheny Community Library for children's books or to a Ukranian relief program, in memory of Tom.
