Obituary for Norma Jean Partin (George)

Norma Jean George Partin, 80, of Oakdale, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2023, in McMurray Hills Manor.

Norma was born on October 27, 1942, in Moon Run, PA, a daughter of the late Paul and Clarabel Martin George.

Ms. Partin was a 1960 graduate of West Allegheny High School. After graduation Norma attended Waynesburg University for a year. She also completed courses at Robert Morris University, where she became a certified EMT, CNA and phlebotomist. Norma used her certifications to give back to her community in different ways. At one point Norma was a regular volunteer EMT with the Rescue West Ambulance Service. In the past Norma worked for WM. J. Burns International Detective Agency, Mellon National Bank of Pittsburgh Security Department, L. B. Foster Company, Stylette Marketing Development, Coraopolis Manufacturing Company, Karn’s Bakery, Georgevich & Associates, and Ohio Valley Hospital. Norma worked at Ohio Valley Hospital for 31 years before her retirement.

Ms. Partin was the most caring woman you would ever meet. She loved caring for everyone she met. It was truly her calling in life. Her compassion made her the best mother and grandmother that her family could have ever asked for. As her children were growing up making sure that she was active in their lives was a priority of Norma’s. She served on the West Allegheny Long Range Planning Committee, volunteering at McKee Elementary in the cafeteria, also with the Oakdale Youth Baseball organizations, the West Allegheny Community Youth Baseball, and the West Allegheny Junior High Football. Norma also served as an active secretary with the adult leadership of Oakdale BSA Troop #248, troop leader of Oakdale GSA Cadette & Senior Troop #1172, and as a 3-year den mother and 1 year as Webelos Scout Leader of Oakdale BSA Cub and Webelos Troop #848.

Surviving are her loving children, Kimberly Janney and her husband Gregory Janney, Kenneth and Mitchell Partin, grandchildren, Amanda and Maxwell Partin and four great grandchildren, four step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.

Norma is preceded in death by her former husband, Robert “Bob” Partin, granddaughters, Jennifer and Katrina Geisler, siblings, Paul R. George, Neil T. George, Nancy A. George Stankevich, and Ralph George.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc. and Crematory, 5000 Noblestown Road, Oakdale (724-693-2800). A Service will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.
