Obituary for Marion C. Jeannette (Smith)

Marion C. (Smith) Jeannette, 74, of McDonald, passed away on, Tuesday, February 7, 2023, in Washington Hospital.

Marion was born on November 4, 1948, in McDonald, a daughter of the late James and Clara (Petel) Smith.

In her early years, Marion loved to take her two sons camping, to her family camp in Pymatuning. Their trips were full of lots of laughter and memories that will last her sons a lifetime. Marion also loved to paint ceramics with her sister. They enjoyed their time together as they got together frequently. As the years went on, Marion found joy in playing bingo at St. Alphonsus Church in McDonald and at Haveloch Commons, where she lived. She was fierce when she played, but spending time with her friends was always a treasure for her.

Ms. Jeannette worked as a shipping and receiving clerk for Walmart, for 15 years. Prior to her time there, Marion worked as a waitress for Trotters Restaurant. Marion was a very loving woman, she was full of care and compassion that she shared with everyone she met. Her loving nature shown through whenever she was around her family’s dogs, her children and especially her grandchildren. Being a devoted mother and grandmother is a role that Marion took with all seriousness. The moment Marion became a grandmother her whole life felt complete. Being the best “Grammy” to her eight grandchildren was her favorite job in life.

Surviving are her sons, Gerald (Kelly) Jeannette, Jr. and Brian (Dawn) Jeannette, step-daughter, Debbie (Scott) Klein, eight grandchildren, brothers, Vern Smith and Dale (Jane) Smith, and former husband, Gerald (Jane) Jeannette, Sr.

Along with her parents, Marion is preceded in death by her siblings, James Smith, Daniel Smith, Lois Smith, Lisa Speicher, and James Smith.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 2-5 p.m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Ave., McDonald (724-926-2800). A Service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 5 p.m. in the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at Robinson Run Cemetery.
