Obituary for Margaret A. Cottrill (Duffy )

Margaret A. Cottrill, 79, of Oakdale, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

Margaret was born on July 5, 1944, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Edward and Cora Blose Duffy.

Mrs. Cottrill was the owner of Distinctive Catering, a catering company she ran from her home with her husband. Margaret loved cooking and it was how she showed her love. You could taste the thought and kindness that went into every meal she made. You never left hungry when you visited Margaret and her husband, Williams home.

Margaret and Williams enjoyed every second they shared together. After working together for more than 20 years, the two decided it was time to start traveling. Often they would take trips to camp or down to Florida. While in Florida, Margaret made sure to provide all of her friends with a home cooked meal. Those meals are what she will be remembered for.

Margaret loved caring for others and it showed with everything she did. She was carefree and did not care for others opinions. Especially when she began singing karaoke. If there was a Patsy Kline song on, Margaret was singing. She enjoyed life and loved each day like it was her last. She was one special lady and she will never be forgotten.

Surviving are her children, Deborah Lynn Cottrill, Williams J. (Sherry) Cottrill Jr., and Michael E. (Christine) Cottrill, grandchildren, Whitney Lee, Angelina Rose and Maxwell Michael Cottrill, siblings, Alice (Joe), Dawn, Mary, and Betsy.

Along with her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Williams Cottrill (2023).

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 2-4 and 5-8 pm at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc. and Crematory, 5000 Noblestown Rd., Oakdale (724-693-2800). A Blessing Service will be held following the viewing at 8 pm in the funeral home.
