Obituary for Loretta R. Kendall (Reed)

Loretta R. (Reed) Kendall, 82, of Bulger, Robinson Twp., passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, in her home.

Mrs. Kendall was born on April 14, 1939, in Primrose, a daughter of the late, Charles and Nellie (Sunday) Reed.

Loretta attended the two-room school house from 1st through 6th grade and then went on to attend Hickory High, where she became a cheerleader. She graduated from Hickory High in 1957. After graduating, Loretta worked many different jobs throughout her life; she spent time at Vimco, Rescue West as an EMT, driving school bus and mail truck part time, and Priamerica Insurance Co. But for over 30 years, Loretta worked as a dairy farmer in her family home in Candor. Growing up in her small community, she loved to give back to it when she could. Loretta served as President of Hickory Alumni for many years. She also served as a founding member and President of the Primrose School and Museum INC, nonprofit.

Working was a large part of Loretta’s life, but her faith was even more important to her. She was a devout member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bulger, where she spent many of her Sundays. For 30+ years she served as a CCD teacher for the school. However, serving her church did not stop within the church walls. Loretta was an avid Pro Life supporter, often marching and finding ways to support their campaign. Loretta also traveled to Philadelphia to visit Pope Francis in 2018, with her daughter Loretta and her friend Roseann.

Loretta loved life and she always had an infectious energy about her. She was very outgoing and loved to travel with her children and grandkids. Also, she and her late husband, Herky, would often go square dancing, or they could be found having parties on the farm that they owned. Her family was her whole life. They brought so much happiness to her and always made her laugh. There was not much quiet time when they all gathered together, but the laughter and memories that were shared is what she cherished the most.

Surviving are her children, Loretta Barbara (Rex Cowey) Kendall, Esquire, John W. (Sharon) Kendall, and Rodger C. (Susan) Kendall, grandchildren, Melissa (John) Stankiewicz, Jessica (Erik) Krocker, John W. (Nicole Scheletsky) Kendall, Jr., Alisha (Paul Belsterling) Kendall, Amanda (Jason) Krupar, Richard (Hannah) Kendall, and Amber (Brian) Vodzak, great grandchildren, Cassie, Erik and Alex Krocker, Jayson Denny, Lilly Stankiewicz, Autumn Kendall and Ciara, Cooper, Lukas, and Avery Vodzak, and her sister, Catherine Kenneweg.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard “Herky” Kendall, her son, Sammy Kendall, and sister, Dorothy Gunther.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, December 17, 2021, from 12-8 p.m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Ave., McDonald (724-926-2800). A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, St. Ann’s Worship Site. Interment will follow at Raccoon Cemetery.
