Obituary for Kevin S. Bowers

Kevin S. Bowers, 64, of Oakdale, Collier Township, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Sunday, October 16, 2022, after passing peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side.

Loving and faithful son of Betty and the late James Bowers of Akron, Ohio.

Kevin recently retired from Thermo Fischer Scientific after working in their IT Department for 32 years. In the past two years since Kevin’s retirement, he and the love of his life, his wife Michelle, spent all their time together. Together they traveled as much as they could and as often as their schedules allowed. Being together was their favorite place to be. In reality, Kevin was a simple man. He enjoyed reading, playing backgammon and western style square dancing. But there were two very prominent and important pieces of Kevin’s life: his family and his faith.

Kevin centered his life around his faith, dedicating his life to serving people and telling them about God’s goodness. Kevin was an excellent story teller and the stories that he could tell of all the times God has provided for him were remarkable. Kevin was a member of The Bible Church in Robinson and there he made some of his life-long friends. Every week a group of people from his church would gather for lunch at the mall where they could share stories and genuinely enjoy each other’s company. Recently, Kevin had been dedicating his time to a new project of his, JAARS, which is an organization dedicated to providing the Word of the Lord in every language, to those in remote areas of the world, doing so by providing transportation and technology access to those areas. Kevin loved his family at JAARS and was so proud of their mission and the many people whom God has already saved through it!

This short story of Kevin’s life will never do justice to all the good he did during his time on Earth. Knowing that he is resting in a world much better than ours provides great comfort. Saying he will be missed is an understatement, but now every day is one day closer to our reunion with him in heaven for those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives. Kevin would want to make sure that every person receives this invitation. Please RSVP to Jesus with an accept!

Along with his mother, Kevin is survived by his best friend and loving wife Michelle Bowers, sisters Sue (Phil) Sheehan and Becky (Ken Hilt) Bowers, and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Kevin's life will be held at The Bible Chapel, 175 McMichael Road, Carnegie, PA 15106 on November 5, 2022 at 11am with a luncheon following.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to JAARS, PO Box 248, Waxhax, NC 28173, to better support a group that was so close to Kevin's heart.
