Obituary for Karen Kay Adams (Ursits)

Karen Kay (Ursits) Adams, 57, of McDonald, wife of Michael Adams, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022, in UPMC Shadyside. Although her battle with cancer was short, it was a courageous one.

Karen was born on September 23, 1964, in Gary, IN, a daughter of Rawland Ursits of Conway, SC. and the late Donna (Campbell) Ursits. She was a 1982 graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School.

Mrs. Adams was a claims processor for Wexford Health and a member of McDonald Methodist Church. Karen was an avid Penguins and Penn State fan. She never missed a game and always enjoyed rooting them on, win or lose.

Along with her loving husband of 33 years and her father, Karen is survived by: sister, Dara Pegg of Conway, SC; brother, Bob (Antoinette) Ursits, nephew, Joseph, niece, Anna Rose and nephew & Godson, Jonathan all of Conway, SC; aunt, Carol(Les) Lauder, special cousin, Holly Lauder-Dillon all of Belle Vernon; sister-in-law, Brenda Ross of Pickerington, OH; brother-in-law, Bob Adams of Cedar Hill, MO; niece, Lori (AJ) Miller of Gahanna, OH; niece, Angela Ross of Blacklick, OH; great nephews, Ada, Vagi age 16 and Jameson Miller age 11 both of Gahanna, OH and other beloved relatives.

Along with her mother, Karen was predeceased by her grandmother, Ruth (Murney) Altier; brother-in-law, Michael Pegg and parents-in-laws, Frances and Basil Adams.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 2-4 pm at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, PA (724-926-2800). A service will follow at 4 pm in the funeral home. *In honor of Karen’s love for the Pittsburgh Penguins the family requests that everyone dress in their favorite Pengiuns attire for the service. *

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Fells United Methodist Church Rostraver, PA; McDonald United Methodist Church; Nose to Tail Animal Rescue, McDonald, PA; or the Washington City Mission Washington, PA.

Karen had a big heart and never met a stranger. We take great comfort in the knowledge that Karen lived her life to the fullest and on her own terms, that she was a believer and that her mom was there to welcome her home. Although we mourn her passing, we celebrate her freedom.
