Obituary for Joseph Elliott McWreath Jr.

Joseph Elliott McWreath Jr., passed away on his 72nd birthday, Saturday, August 19, 2023, in UPMC Shadyside.

Elliott was born on August 19, 1951, in Adams County, a son of the late Joseph E. and Mary Louise Stevenson McWreath Sr.

Mr. McWreath was a graduate of Fort Cherry High School, class of 1969. He was also a graduate of Penn State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in agriculture. After graduation, Elliott became a Dairy Farmer at his family farm, Cyndell Farm in McDonald. He loved spending his day at the farm. Farming was never work for him it was always something that he truly enjoyed. After the drought in the 80’s brought his farming days to an abrupt halt, Elliott began working for Santiago Distributing, where he eventually retired from. Elliott was a former member of the American Legion in McDonald. He was also a former member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in McDonald. Where he served as an elder and a trustee member for many of years. Later in life, Elliott and his wife became member of Mr. Olivet Presbyterian Church. He truly enjoyed his church friends that became more like family.

Elliott loved being outdoors, whether it was farming or camping, he loved it. Elliott and his wife had a camp in Conneaut Lake. Elliott was so excited to begin going camping again. It was something that he was looking forward to as the nice cool days approached. There was nothing he loved more than his days at the camp with his loving wife, Cathy. The two of them enjoyed every second of their time together. They were not just husband and wife; they were best friends. Together they tackled every curve life had thrown at them, with grace and so much love. Their love is not one that ends with death, it only grows stronger until the two can be reunited again.

Surviving is his loving wife of 48 years, Cathy Miller McWreath, father-in-law, Dean (the late Eleanor) Miller, sisters-in-law, Barb (Ron) Halulko and Deanna Miller Zebich and many nieces, nephews, greath nieces and nephews and cousins.

Along with his parents, Elliott is preceded in death by his siblings, Cynthia McWreath, Beth McWreath Daniels and Guy McWreath.

Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service on, Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 11 a.m. in Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church, 4128 PA-151, Aliquippa, PA 15001.
