Obituary for John M. Slimick Sr.

John M. Slimick, SR., 83, of Oakdale, North Fayette Township, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, in his home.

Mr. Slimick was born on December 17, 1938, in Morgan, PA, a son of the late John and Anna (Kolidji) Slimick.

John was a retired Stationary Engineer for Allegheny County Local 95. Mr. Slimick was a simple man, he enjoyed being around people, his Cadillac, and listening to George Jones and Patsy Kline. John was a faithful member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Oakdale. He enjoyed being a part of his church, where he met so many friends that became his second family. John’s friends were so important to him. He loved joking with them and was constantly telling stories. When you were with John there was never a quiet moment, his stories always filled the room and his love filled your heart. John’s family was the utmost important part of his life, being a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, were his most important roles. All summer long he would work with his family out in his yard and enjoy every moment in the sun with them. John was so proud of his family and the lives that they have created for themselves. His wife, Mary Ann, was his best friend and soulmate in life. Together they could accomplish anything they put their minds to and they did just that. The laughter that came from John’s stories and jokes are something that all his family and friends will remember and cherish forever. John’s love does not end with his death it only grows stronger until we can all be together with him again.
