Obituary for John R. Tinney

John R. Tinney, II, 65, of Oakdale, North Fayette Township, passed away on his 65th birthday, February 25, 2023, in his home.

John was born on February 25, 1958, in Washington, a son of John “Jack” and Betty (Gaitens) Tinney of Heidelburg.

Mr. Tinney worked as a fleet service agent for American Airlines for 43 years. John was a hard worker, not only at his job, but also around the house. He loved to tinker around the house and teach his sons the value of true hard work. When he was not working or finding something to occupy his time, John enjoyed relaxing at the golf course. He loved to fit in 18 rounds and he always enjoyed the company that came with playing with all his buddies.

Above all, there was nothing that John loved more than his family. They were his life and spending as much time as he could with his children, grandchildren and his dog was his favorite. They filled his life with so much love and laughter and teaching the next generations of his family was something that he took great pride in. With all that John taught his sons and grandchildren, there is so much of him that lives on through them.

Along with his parents, surviving are his sons; Thomas (Lauren) Tinney, Michael (Samantha Hall) Tinney, and John (Aubrey) Tinney, grandchildren, Levi, Logan and Lincoln Tinney, siblings, Theresa (Glenn) Stefanick and Patrick (Sandy) Tinney, former wife, Diane Wentz, several aunts, uncles and cousins and his four-legged best friend, Lexie.

John is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas M. Tinney.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc. and Crematory, 5000 Noblestown Road, Oakdale (724-693-2800). A Blessing Service will on March 2, 2023 at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice, in memory of John.
