Obituary for Harold Vincent Kimberland

Harold Vincent Kimberland died on August 22, 2022. Mr. Kimberland was born on November 9, 1952. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia (Ginny) Granke-Kimberland, and a sister Margaret (Peggy Kimberland-Martelli (Karl). Several stepchildren, nieces, nephews and grandchildren also survived. Deceased are his parents, Mary (Amorose) and Harold V. Kimberland, and a sister, Cora Kimberland.

Harold V. served many years in the United States Army's fabled 82nd Airborne Division. He served with A Company 2nd Bn (ABN) 325 Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division for 5 years and then spent a year in Korea with C Company 1st Bn 38th Infantry Division. While there he served as a squad leader. He returned to Ft Bragg and was assigned to HHC 1st Bn (ABN) 505th Infantry. SSG Kimberland was then reassigned to C Company 1st Bn (ABN) 508th Infantry. With the 508th Airborne, SSG Kimberland served in Operation Urgent Fury, the invasion of Grenada in 1983. He performed many Jumpmaster responsibilities and served as an instructor at West Point, teaching the .45 caliber pistol to first year cadets.

SSG Kimberland's awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, and many others...He earned the Parachutist Badge, the Senior Parachutist Badge, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Expert Infantry Badge, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Jungle Expert Badges for Rifle, Machine Gun, M-203 Grenade Launcher, Hand Grenade. His military schools include PNCOC, BNCOC, Jumpmaster, Recondo, Jungle Operations Training Center, Armorer, Leadership Development, and TMAC Course.

Mr. Kimberland also love his Beagles, Riley and Jake.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 2-6 p.m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Ave., McDonald (724-926-2800). A Service will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Inurnment will take place on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd., Bridgeville, PA 15017. All attending the burial service are asked to meet at the cemetery between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m.
