Obituary for Elmo B. Cecchetti II

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Elmo B. Cecchetti II, 71 of McDonald, Pennsylvania on May 1, 2022 after a lengthy illness due to complications from diabetes and various cancers. He passed peacefully at home.

Elmo was born April 16, 1951 in Arnold, Pennsylvania, son to the late Elmo B Cecchetti and Virginia Louise (Locanto) Cecchetti. He was a 1969 graduate from Arnold High School and a 1973 graduate from Duquesne University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, where he had been a charter member of both the university chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon and the Duquesne University Club Football Team.

After graduation Elmo stayed in Western Pennsylvania and went on to various management positions with such notable corporations as Consolidation Coal Company, Health America and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield where he had many friends, coworkers and took great pride in mentoring and promoting staff.

On August 17, 1985, Elmo married Gail E Lowry of Avella, PA who survives and moved to McDonald, PA where they had three beautiful, loving and successful children; Elmo B. III (Ashlie) Cecchetti, Avella, Elysia Bianca (Chase Foster) Cecchetti, Bell, Tennessee and Elliott Bowen Cecchetti Orlando, Florida. Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Elexa Cecchetti, Ellie Cecchetti, Elmo Cecchetti IV, and Sonnie Foster. His brother Frank (Susan) Cecchetti and goddaughter Gina of Mt. Lebanon, brother Gregory Lee Cecchetti of Greensburg and his goddaughter Angela, sons Gregory and Zachary with their spouses and children.

While living in McDonald, his civic minded character led him to serve on the McDonald Sewage Authority, McDonald Borough Council and Fort Cherry School District as a Board member for 16 years. He also faithfully attended Saint Alphonsus Church and was part of the Finance Committee.

Aside from his strong work ethic and love of family, many joyful days were spent working and relaxing on his family farm which had been in the family since 1954; where he spent weekends together with his parents and brothers, and the vast extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. He most looked forward to the annual family reunions where up to 150 family members would be in attendance for fun and togetherness.

Friends and family will be received Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm at the Thomas - Little Funeral Service Inc., 314 West Lincoln Avenue McDonald, PA (724-926-2800).
