Obituary for Elizabeth Vangysel (McGraw)

Elizabeth (McGraw) Vangysel, 94, of Sturgeon, South Fayette Township, passed away on, Saturday, December 31, 2022, in her home.

Elizabeth was born on June 28, 1928, in Atlasburg, a daughter of the late, Peter and Bridgette (Tagartt) McGraw.

Betty Vangysel was a dedicated and very caring person. Elizabeth worked as a secretary for Bell Telephone and was so dedicated to her work that she rarely missed a day. She also volunteered with the company to collect old phone books, so that they could be recycled. Elizabeth knew the value of hard work. There was always something to do, whether it was volunteering at her church, St. Patrick’s or keeping her mind active with her daily Sudoku. Her meticulous nature showed in all aspects of her life. She was well known for her pecan tassie cookies and her bite size gullets.

Elizabeth was a very loved woman. Her family surrounded her with so much love throughout her life and Elizabeth returned it right back. She loved caring for her entire family. They were her whole world and being the best version of herself was something she always strived for, for them.

Surviving are her daughters, Linda (Stanley) Simpson, III and Sandra (Tom) Meyers, grandchildren; Megan (Mitchell) Simpson-Hess, Stanley Simpson, IV, Joseph (Megan) Simpson, Curtis (Dawn) Baronio, Kelly (Shawn) Hisiro, Samuel (Roxanne) Miller, and Thomas (Katia) Meyers, JR., 12 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and sister Roseann Kotar.

Along with her parents, Elizabeth is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Melvin Vangysel, five brothers and three sisters.

All arrangements are private and entrusted to Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc. and Crematory, 5000 Noblestown Rd., Oakdale (724-693-2800).
