Obituary for Eleanor Ruth "Ellie" Paul

Eleanor Ruth “Ellie” Paul, 86, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2023, at The Grove in Harmony, PA.

Eleanor was born on August 24, 1936, in Ellwood City, a daughter of the late Gregorius and Mary A. Baier Paul. She was a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1954 and served on the class reunion committee.

Eleanor was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ellwood City. She retired from working many years at Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh and started her banking career as a teller at Lawrence Savings and Trust in Ellwood City. Eleanor was previously a member of the Ellwood City Area Civic Chorale, where she was one of the original members. She loved singing with people that she had known for years and even some of her family members.

Eleanor was known as “Aunt Eleanor” by those that loved her most. She was like an aunt to everyone she met, as she would often volunteer to babysit for everyone in need of a helping hand. Growing up, Eleanor and her late sister, Doris, were an unbreakable pair. They often traveled all over town to babysit just about every niece and nephew. She was selfless, always taking care of her family before herself and being the helping hand to every person she knew. Her infectious smile, laugh and stories will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving is her sister, Catherine Miller, formerly of Ellwood City, and numerous loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Along with her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary E. Chernyavsky, Greg H. Paul, Elizabeth Ann Schuller, Dorothy J. Spielvogel, Elsie L. Berendt and Doris E. Paul.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 10 a.m. – Noon, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 207 Spring Ave., Ellwood City, PA 16117. A Service will be held following the viewing at Noon at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery, Ellwood City, PA.
