Obituary for Earle R. Wolfe Jr.

Earle R. Wolfe, 75, of Coraopolis, PA, formerly of York, passed away on Sunday, January 22, at his home.

He was born on January 5, 1948, in Palmyra, PA, a son of Earle R. Wolfe, Sr. and Emma Walmer Wolfe.

A graduate of Palmyra High School and Shippensburg University, Earle enjoyed a 33 year teaching career in the Southern York County School District, teaching both sixth grade and ancient and world history. He and Linda enjoyed traveling and visited many of the places he taught about during his time in the classroom. As a member of St. Jacobs United Church of Christ in York New Salem, he served as a consistory member and was a favored Sunday School teacher. He was well-known as being the only male member of the Women’s Bible Study group.

Family was very important to him. After nearly 50 years in York, Earle and Linda relocated to the Pittsburgh area to be near family, especially their grandson, Camp. Earle was known for his kindness, generosity, warm smile, and his ready humor, always finding a way to lighten the mood.

Earle is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda White Wolfe, daughter, Erin (John) Cucarese, and grandson, John Campbell (Camp) Cucarese.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, in Earle’s memory. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in York, PA.
