Obituary for Donald B. "Don" Boynes

Donald B. Boynes, Jr., 82, of Edgewater, FL passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Boynes was born July 30, 1939 in McDonald, PA, raised his family in Sturgeon, PA, and then moved to Florida in 1996 from Sturgeon.

Don was a proud United States Navy Veteran. After serving with the Navy, Don became an Operating Engineer for Union Local 66 in Pittsburgh, until retirement. Don’s faith was very important to him. Once moving from Pittsburgh to Florida, he became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach. He was a tremendous Pittsburgh Steelers’ fan, having had season tickets throughout the 70’s. Although moving from Pittsburgh many years ago, Don was still a huge fan, never missing a game on TV. His love for sports did not stop with football. Don was also an avid tennis player and member of the New Smyrna Beach Tennis Center. Although all these things were what made Don who he was, nothing could compare to the way his family completed him.

Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Ann; children, Shirl J. (Robert) D'Amico, and Donald B. Boynes, III; sister, Shirl Krenn; and five grandchildren: Erin, Dominique, Amanda, Noah and Ryan.

Along with his parents, Don was preceded in death by his son, Ryan McCaffery Boynes in 1988.
