Obituary for Daniel G. Newcomer Jr.

Daniel G. Newcomer Jr., 68, of McDonald, Cecil Twp., formerly of Ebensburg, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021, in his home.

Daniel was born on September 2, 1953, in Johnstown, son of the late Daniel G. and Edith Newcomer Sr.

Mr. Newcomer was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. Though he spent many years in coal mining, Daniel last worked as a Coal Miner Forman for Lion Mining. Throughout his years in the mines, Daniel became quite the entrepreneur in the coal mining world. Often, Mr. Newcomer would help start up coal mines in different areas and would oversee their production. Like any other coal miner, he loved to hunt, fish, go camping and golfing. But his past hobbies were gardening and baking. Daniel loved to bake, often using fresh produce from his garden. He was most famous for his homemade zucchini bread. And when gardening season was over, that meant it was time to sit and watch his favorite sports team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Although, all of these different activities made Daniel happy, nothing could compare to the joy he received when he was with his family. Daniel and his beloved wife were so proud of the family they had created. They shared so much love and laughter together and being a father and grandfather was Daniels favorite role in life.

Surviving are his children, Jasen (Stephanie) Newcomer, Tonya (Joseph) Blickenderfer, and Daniel G. Newcomer III, grandchildren, Emma and Kathryn Blickenderfer, and Alexis, Nathan, Marleigha and Mikaylha Newcomer, and brother, Dennis (Michelle) Newcomer.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Deborah A. (Kulish) Newcomer (2018).

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Ave., McDonald (724-926-2800). A Blessing Service will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
