Obituary for Charles L. Kalb

Charles L. Kalb, 91, of Midway, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, in his home.

Charles was born on, February 12, 1931, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Charles and Elsie (Westerwick) Kalb.

Mr. Kalb was a U.S. Army veteran and a very proud one too. Not only did Charles serve his country, but he also served and protected his city. Mr. Kalb was a Pittsburgh Police officer for 29 years. He was a proud and hardworking police officer and very dedicated to making his city a safe place for all. Charles was a proud member of the FOP and his local American Legion. When Charles had some down time he loved going hunting and fishing. Mr. Kalb was a life member of the McDonald Sportsman’s Club, where he found many of his lifelong friends. Charles also enjoyed collecting die cast cars. His home was filled with tiny cars and he could tell you every detail about every car.

Although all of these things made up so much of Charles’s life, nothing could compare to how important his family was to him. Mr. Kalb was lucky enough to marry the love of his life, the late, Patricia Kalb. Together they raised their children to be strong, independent and loving people. As life went on, grandkids came, and that is when Charles really came to life. Being a grandfather was his favorite role, he spoiled his three granddaughters and two great granddaughters, like all grandparents do. He loved them all so much and was always so proud of everything they did.

Surviving are his children, Chuck F. (Stacy) Kalb, Peggy A. (Robert) Herrmann, granddaughters, Nicole (Tim) Irvine, Jessica Herrmann, and Kylee Kalb, great granddaughters, Peyton and Kennedi Irvine, and sister, Judy Schzure.

Along with his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Ann (Daerr) Kalb, and sister, Anita Kalb.
