Obituary for Beverly Louise Wilbert

Beverly Louise Wilbert, 78, of North Fayette, passed away at home on December 12, 2022. Born November 28, 1944, to Frank and Mildred Wilbert née Scott, she was the eighth of their twelve children.

A beloved mother and grandmother, she leaves behind her daughter, Michelle (Paul) Prevade, of North Fayette, and two grandsons, Tanner and Tyler, in addition to the many nieces, nephews, and cousins who she loved dearly. She loved her family boldly, and more than words allow, and her family always felt the strength of her love.

Beverly was unwavering in her service to others. She worked for more than 30 years as a nursing aide at Kane Hospital in Scott Township, but her true life’s work was her devotion to family. Once retired, she delighted in focusing her full attention on her grandsons. She saw her boys off to school in the morning and had food waiting for them in the afternoon. Even once they were grown, she always made sure her boys had a bag of home-made cookies and a few bucks in their wallet when they’d head back to college.

Beverly was our matriarch, our mainstay, and a brilliantly strong woman. Her life embodied the American dream: born to a boilermaker and a homemaker, Beverly strived to foster the perfect life for her daughter. In the following decades, Beverly was rewarded as she watched her daughter and grandsons build upon her lasting foundation. And of course, she was so proud.

Always quick with a quip, everyone loved her sense of humor. She leaves us with plenty of wisecracks and quotes for her family to repeat and savor. She excelled at word-searches, effortlessly took care of her many houseplants, and enjoyed the company of her friends at Lafayette Square Apartments, with whom she attended church services and game nights.

Beverly is survived by her brother Robert Wilbert of McDonald, and sisters Susan Conn of McDonald and Mary (Vernon) Petersen of Palo Cedro, California. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death most recently by her sister Donna Nolan and siblings Elizabeth Delaney, Mary Lou Leadbitter, Frank Wilbert, Sandy Brown, Jean McPhail, Patricia Kraft, and Edward Wilbert.

Beverly’s grandsons want to acknowledge the tireless work of their mother, Michelle, who cared for and assisted Beverly in her final years and helped our grandma to live a dignified life on her own terms.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, December 16, 2022, from 4-7 p.m., with a service to follow at 7p.m., at the Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc. and Crematory, 5000 Noblestown Road, Oakdale, PA, 15071.
