Obituary for Betty M. Dabat (Donahue)

Betty M. (Donahue) Dabat, 78, of Oakdale, North Fayette Township, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022, in her home, holding her Marie's hand.

Betty was born on November 1, 1944, in San Diego, California, a daughter of the late Robert and Betty (Blackstock) Donahue.

Mrs. Dabat was a retired consultant and helper for Marie Ann’s Bridal Shop, which she and her family all worked in together. Betty had a special love for food, especially exotic food and in her later years, spicy food. She loved to cook but even more so she enjoyed eating! Another love of Betty’s was the ocean. Although she was not able to travel to it much, it was the most serene and beautiful place Betty could be. Betty was truly the most selfless and loving person you could ever meet. She devoted herself to her family and people that truly needed her. Betty’s non-judgmental attitude allowed her to become a friend to everyone. There was no such thing as a stranger in Betty’s book, everyone was family. Betty was a mom to everyone, but most especially to those in her family. Betty is responsible for raising three generations of her family. She cared for each and every person in their own way and loved being involved in their lives. Whether it was being a troop mom for girl scouts or just showing up to a school event, Betty never missed anything with her family.

Surviving is her children; Maria, Kathy, Johnny and Marie, grandchildren; Johnny, Ashley, Jay, Peter, MeDo and Jacob, great grandchildren; Levi, Tristen, Allie, Austin, Aleska, Zane and Carter aka Baby Bean, and her siblings, Patty, Tommy (Patti), Peggy (Jack), Danny and her lovely “Big 3” ladies, Kathy and Nancy.

Along with her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, John F. Dabat (2017) and her son John Julian Dabat.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc. and Crematory, 5000 Noblestown Rd., Oakdale (724-693-2800).
