Obituary for Barbara J. Yerkey (Bable)

Barbara J. (Bable) Yerkey, 88, of McDonald, Cecil Township, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022, in St. Clair Hospital.

Barbara was born on February 13, 1934, in Midway, a daughter of the late James Lawrence and Helen S. (Hartman) Bable.

Mrs. Yerkey was truly a simple woman. She loved traveling to any flea markets she could find and snagging a good find was always what made the trip worthwhile. Barbara and her late husband, William, loved to go dancing whenever they could. Together they would run the dance floor and laugh the night away. Bill was the love of Barbara’s life and for the 65 years that they were blessed to be married their love grew stronger every day. Barbara and Bill created a beautiful family together and were fortunate enough to watch their grandkids grow up as well. Mrs. Yerkey was a homemaker all her life, enjoyed tending to her family and did such a wonderful job too. Barbara loved nothing more than being a mother and grandmother. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was always something that brought her so much joy. The laughter and smiles that were shared are something that Barbara’s family will cherish forever.

Surviving are her children; William C. Yerkey, JR. and Matthew L. (Jennifer) Yerkey, daughter-in-law, Ellen Yerkey, grandchildren; Christopher, Lindsay, Alex, Kitera and Jeremy Yerkey, siblings; George (Jane) Bable, Dolores Bable and James Edward Bable.

Along with her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her loving husband, William C. Yerkey (2019), son, Christopher Yerkey, and sister, Elizabeth Elliehausen.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Ave., McDonald (724-926-2800). A Service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Robinson Run Cemetery.
