Obituary for Amelia Whitaker (Meriage)

Amelia (Meriage) Whitaker, 85, of McDonald, Mt. Pleasant Township, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, in Bridgeville Rehab Care Center.

Amelia was born on February 8, 1937, in Primrose, a daughter of the late George and Florence (Lewis) Meriage.

Ms. Whitaker was a retired legal secretary for Pecori Law Firm. She was also a member a Center United Presbyterian Church in Midway. Amelia loved life and she was very fond of enjoying her life and living it to the fullest. In her earlier years, Amelia served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years. She was even lucky enough to work in Paris and travel through Europe with the Air Force. After traveling for two years with them she was sent back to the United States to work in the Pentagon for the remainder of her service time. Amelia also loved spending time at the horse races and testing her luck at the casino. But the simplest thing could make her happy. In fact, sitting on her porch with a cold beer was really her favorite place to be.

Amelia is survived by her siblings; Marie A. (Ronald) Snyder, Stanley (Nancy Ely) Meriage, sister-in-law, Diane Meriage, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Paul Meriage.
